"The phrase running dog has been in use since the Qing Dynasty, and was often used in the 20th century by communists to refer to client states of the United States and other capitalist powers.

Running dog is a literal translation into English of the Chinese pejorative 走狗 (Chinese: zǒu gǒu), meaning lackey or lapdog, an person who helps or flatters those more powerful. It is derived from the tendency of dogs to follow after humans in hopes of receiving food scraps. (or in my case, paychecks).

In 1950, a China Weekly Review article gave the following definition: "A running-dog is a lackey, one who aids and accompanies in the hope of being treated kindly and perhaps being allowed to share in the spoils."  
I agree with that. I like spoils.

I chose Running Dog as my company name because I aid and abet imperialist capitalists, and have to run to keep up with their often impossible deadlines. I chose the pug (a quintessentially Chinese  dog breed) as my icon because I raise them and ironically, they only run when they hear a refrigerator door open.
